ANNA & BILL TENENBLATT
Anna and Bill’s journey with Sinai Temple began when they enrolled their son Daniel at Sinai Akiba Academy in 1984. Little did they know that this step would lead to a profound connection that would shape and enrich their lives and our community for decades. Anna quickly became an integral part of the school community, eventually ascending to Board Chair. Her commitment to education extended beyond Sinai Akiba Academy as she actively engaged with the Temple and served on countless committees. In 2022, Anna was elected President of Sinai Temple after serving as Vice President of Education, Finance, and Administration. Throughout her many roles, collaborating closely with the clergy, staff, and board has made her experience at Sinai deeply fulfilling.
A native of New York City, Anna earned a BA in French and English Literature from CCNY and an MA from Teachers College of Columbia University. When Anna and Bill married, they moved to Los Angeles and they have been a cornerstone of the local community ever since. Together, they’ve raised two wonderful children, Daniel, an attorney, and Karen, a pediatrician. Their five grandchildren, Sam, Ilan, Asher, Jacob, and Libby are a testament to the strong foundation Sinai Akiba has provided for their family’s Jewish legacy.
In 1973, Anna and Bill co-founded a textile business with Bill’s parents, a venture that has blossomed into an enterprise employing over 500 people. Their textiles find a home in the products of renowned apparel companies like Nike and Under Armour, as well as in service to the US Military. Working side by side for so many years has been an exhilarating and occasionally challenging journey, but ultimately, a rewarding one for Anna and Bill. Anna expresses her gratitude to Sinai Temple for the profound impact it has had on her family. “Most of my longest and deepest friendships have blossomed within the Sinai community. The bonds formed here are the most precious gifts Sinai has to offer.”
We are thrilled to celebrate Anna and Bill and thank them for their unparalleled dedication, generosity, and leadership.
