Cantor Marcus Feldman

Recognized by The Forward as one of “The Top Five Best New Voices in Jewish Music,” Cantor Marcus Feldman is a classically trained tenor and the Senior Cantor of Sinai Temple. A graduate of the University of Southern California, Cantor Feldman earned dual degrees from the Thornton School of Music and the Marshall School of Business, receiving distinction as a Renaissance Scholar. He was ordained in 2011 at the Academy for Jewish Religion, California, where he also earned a Master’s in Jewish Sacred Music. Today, he helps shape the future of Jewish music as a Professor of Cantorial and Liturgical Studies.

His musical journey has taken him from Los Angeles to Israel, where he studied under the renowned Cantor Naftali Herstik at the Great Synagogue of Jerusalem and pursued studies at Hebrew University and the Conservative Yeshiva. Upon ordination, he served as Assistant Cantor at Stephen Wise Temple, working alongside legendary mentors Cantor Nathan Lam, Rabbi Eli Herscher, and Rabbi Isaiah Zeldin.z”l

Since his appointment as Senior Cantor of Sinai Temple in 2012, Cantor Feldman has led the music department and B’nai Mitzvah program for over a decade. He teaches liturgy, music, and cantillation, engaging students of all ages across the congregation’s many programs. A visionary producer and performer, he has created numerous musical programs, lectures, and concerts in collaboration with Sinai Temple, UCLA’s Herb Alpert School of Music, and the greater Los Angeles Jewish community. His professional recordings highlight the depth and diversity of Jewish music throughout generations. Passionate about nurturing the next generation, Cantor Feldman directs the Sinai Temple Youth Choir, inspiring young singers from Sinai Akiba Academy and the Religious School to perform during Shabbat, High Holy Days, and special programs. He also played a key role in launching the Sinai Community Choir, enriching holiday observances through music. Cantor Feldman resides in Los Angeles with his wife, Rachel, their son, Asher, and their three beloved cats.
